Things to remeber: The Ollie must be learnt before trying a kickflip. Using these pointers along with the you can make the kickflip an extension of your Ollie.
Step 1: Your back foot should be placed at the tip of the tail and your front foot in the middle of the board but with your heel hanging off to the side. You may find it easier to Kickflip if you hang your foot off the edge further.
Step 2: You have hit your tail and now your front foot is rising up the board, here is when the Kickflip takes place.
Step 3: As the front foot rises up the board your toes are approaching the nose of your board, at this point you have to continue the forward motion and off to the side of your board. Once the front foot reaches the nose of your board give your foot a flick off to the side of the board, this will flip the board. The flick of the foot come from your ankle.
Step 4: The board should be flipping now. You should remeber to keep centered over the board, don't lean back or forwards. This will keep the board directly underneath you.
Step 5: Watch the board rotate underneath you and prepare to catch it, once the board has flipped fully and you can see the griptape, catch the board, first with the back foot to stop the board from over flipping and then the front foot as it returns from the flick.
Step 6: Land with your weight centered and your knees bent.
Step 7: You have just landed your first Kickflip
