Hye all,
it such a long time i didn't post anything at this blog. If i not mistaken it about 4 - 5 month already. Huh, such a long gap untill today.. I don't know why today i have a passion on this thing. Right know i'm working at subang jaya selangor, it already 1 1/2 month i was there since 2nd ramadhan. I'm working as a assistant network engineer, beside that title, i'm also doing what is actually network engineer do such as troubleshoot network, create DNS server, create an email server, configure firewall and etc. Even though sometimes i can bear to accept the task given, but i try to handle it wisely. I try to find every single solutions for every single problem i face with, by searching it through Google search engine. " All's well that ends well " yes that the most suitable proverb in my situation, there is a solution to everything even though there are doubts. I think the way i'm been train like this is to make me to be more competent after all. If that true, i will thank to my Manager who always make me gone through a lot of hardship :) (thank you boss) hahaha.. Opss sorry, after a long story i forgot to tell you that in my department which is IT department consist 3 people only, 1st is my General Information Manager also Our Network Engineer, 2nd is IT engineer and the lowest in the chart is ME... hehehe.. i'm just the "chekai2" person only at that company. But it doesn't bother me at all, plus i thank to God because give me that job after been searching a job almost a month. I also thank to God because of this job, everything that i wish to learn before i already learned it from my manager who are really competent, expert and hands-on in the Computer Network field. I really admire with him, not because he is my manager, but because of his knowledge and his BOUNTEOUS attitude. He will teach and advice me everything regarding computer, from a tiny thing into a big thing. I really appreciate his advice, may Allah bless him always. Ok that a bit story about my Manager. Now we proceed to our IT engineer, he is a good person too. why he good? because he always pay for my lunch... LoL :D .. Beside that, he also same like my manager, always teach me about everything that i didn't know, mostly it about computer. So, after all i think i really2 love this working place, but unfortunately, :'( I'm going to resign by the end of this year in order to pursue my study, because this is my promise with my late mom. I cannot neglect this promise. ok guys, until here i can wrote, my brain cannot focus anymore. So, wish me luck. God bless me and u guys. Thanks.

Untuk makluman semua ini adalah pendedahan dari salah seorang Pegawai Bahagian Kewangan, Di Jabatan Perdana Menteri. Pendedahan ini mengenai Slip Pendapatan Bulanan Menteri dan Timbalan Menteri di Malaysia. Hanya pegawai-pegawai tertentu sahaja dibenarkan menguruskan maklumat ini, walaupun mereka itu adalah PA kepada Menteri.

Kakitangan perkeranian tidak mengetahui, sebab slip pendapatan bulan masing-masing diberi dengan sampul surat tertutup. Maklumat ini adalah dari kawan-kawan di Jabatan Audit Negara, Perbendaharaan Malaysia, Bahagian Kabinet Jabatan Perdana Menteri serta Bahagian Pentadbiran Kewangan Parlimen Malaysia.

Slip Pendapatan Bulanan bagi Menteri Penuh Malaysia termasuk Ketua-Ketua Menteri

1. Gaji Pokok RM18,000 - sulit untuk public, tidak boleh didedah kepada orang awam (OSA) akhbar ditegah mendedahkannya. Terikat dengan akta Parliment

2. Elaun Keraian RM10,500.00 - tidak sulit, pendedahan harus berhati-hati

3. Elaun Perumahan RM10,800.00 - tidak sulit - pendedahan harus berhati-hati Kebanyakan menteri ada rumah sendiri, jadi tuntutan ini masuk poket mereka sajalah

4. Elaun Wakil Rakyat RM10,650.00 - tidak sulit tapi tidak orang semua tahu.

5. Elaun parking RM 5,700.00

Jumlah pendapatan bulanan RM55,650.00 yang wajib terima samada sakit atau tidak kerja.

Lain-lain kemudahan

1. Bercuti keluar negara sekali setahun terutama selepas persidangan Dewan Negara, semua perbelanjaan ditanggung oleh kerajaan termasuk tiket penerbangan, hotel, duit poket sebanyak RM50,000.00. Kalau tidak bercuti keluar negara seorang menteri boleh menuntut sebanyak RM50,000.00 tanpa resit.

2. Bil letrik percuma ditanggung oleh kerajaan Malaysia

3. Bil Air percuma ditanggung oleh kerajaan Malaysia

4. Bil telefon percuma ditanggung oleh kerajaan Malaysia

5. Peruntukan perkakasan dapor/perhiasan rumah dan lain-lain boleh dituntut setahun sekali sebanyak RM40,000.00

6. Sebuah kereta Mercedes S320, di lengkapi dengan talipon bimbit, satu driver, minyak percuma. Kalau pakai pemandu kementerian, dapatlah duit percuma.

7. Semua pemberian derma seperti kepada perkahwinan, kematian, atau pemberian kepada badan-badan kebajikan boleh dituntut.

8. Boleh mengadakan rumah terbuka setiap hari raya, segala perbelanjaan ditanggung oleh kerajaan. Kebiasaan Menteri menuntut sebanyak RM400,000.00

9. Setiap menteri biasanya tuntutan mereka sebanyak RM45,000.00 semua elaun perbelanjaan tidak termasuk elaun-elaun dalam slip pendapatan bulanan.

2. Pengerusi syarikat swasta yg dilantik.
3. Pedapatan dari syarikat persendirian seperti kontrak dan lain-lain.

But that understanding are totally wrong.. Actually it was fun.. Seriously... And u know what???? KUANTAN: It was a close shave for 50 passengers who managed to get off a bus before it caught fire about 7am yesterday.

The engine of the passenger bus, plying the Pekan-Kuantan route, began emitting smoke near the Kampung Sungai Soi junction.

The driver immediately parked the bus by the roadside and told everyone to get out. Moments later the bus was engulfed in flames.

"It was quite scary as everyone started to panic and rushed for the exits," said Mohd Gadaafi Mohamad, 23, who is the bus attendant.

A fire engine took 20 minutes to put out the fire which destroyed the bus. Among the passengers were office workers and schoolchildren.

Japanese couple sues Sony and Apple over burning battery

A Japanese couple in Tokyo are suing both Sony and Apple Japan for "over" 2 million yen ($16,700 US, quite conservative if you ask us Yanks) over a laptop battery which caught fire in April of last year. The suit argues that the man suffered burns on his finger when the battery burst into flames while being used, and his wife had to be treated for mental distress due to the incident. Of course, this isn't surprising considering the long-acknowledged problems with the recalled Sony-built batteries, and is probably just a sign of things to come as scarred users seek a righteous vengeance against companies that openly admit wrongdoing. Sony better just hope that they didn't make this battery.

The tailslide is kinda like the noseslide, but it's more difficult! Instead of sliding on the nose, you'll have to slide on the (duh!) tail of your board.

Just start in the ollie position, but put your back foot a little more towards the heel side of your board.

Approach the obstacle facing it. Ride parallel to the obstacle with some speed. Leave 20 to 30 centimetres between you and the obstacle.

Ollie 90 degrees bs. Land with your tail on the obstacle. Put pressure on your back foot.

Slide down the obstacle. If you want to get of, slide the tail of your board of the obstacle.

Ride on and see how impressed people are!

Important: Don't ollie to high on the object because this will make the slide more difficult. If you're a beginner, practise at the end of the object. Once you can do it, you can make your slides longer.

Variations: Do a trick in or out the tailslide like: kickflip tailslide or tailslide shove-it.

UK study finds no link between illness and cell phone towers

Researchers in the UK have all but debunked the theory that cell phone towers, or electronic interference, is making people physically ill. A recent study done by Britain's Health Protection Agency (HPA) said that they could find no scientific evidence that feelings of anxiety, nausea, and tiredness occur due to the presence of electronics, or GSM and 3G cell phone equipment. The tests, carried out in 2005 and reported in Environmental Health Perspectives today, claim that when neither the researcher nor the subject knew if cell signals were being emitted, the number of symptoms reported was not related to signals present. Participants did report feeling ill, but it was independent of any cell phone signals, "Hence the range of symptoms and physiological response does not appear to be related to the presence of either GSM or 3G signals," the study said. Yeah, right, next thing you know they'll be telling us those voices we hear aren't "real" either.

Casper Flip

Before you start: this is not the freestyle casperflip everyone knows.

Ok for people that don’t know what a casperflip is: Stand with your back foot on the tail, and your front foot under your board. Flip a half flip and a shove it and land on the Griptape. That’s a casperflip.

1. First place your feet in a normal kickflip stance, bend your knees and pop the board.

2. Now as you are sliding your front foot towards the nose, push your feet down so that your front foot is under the board (picture 3 and 4), when you do this make sure that your back foot is in the air all the time.

3. Now your front foot is under your board.. Move your feet to the side so that the board flips a half kicfklip and a full shove-it (you can also move your front foot up, then the board flips like a impossible, but that’s up to you), Your back foot is still in the air.

4. Then if you see the griptape put your back foot on the board and land.

(If you try the flip, it's good to do the motion without the board, cause the whole casperflip is done by your front foot, and don't forget: your front foot never leaves the board!

Top 10 Most Famous Hackers of All Time

The portrayal of hackers in the media has ranged from the high-tech super-spy, as in Mission Impossible where Ethan Hunt repels from the ceiling to hack the CIA computer system and steal the "NOC list," to the lonely anti-social teen who is simply looking for entertainment.

The reality, however, is that hackers are a very diverse bunch, a group simultaneously blamed with causing billions of dollars in damages as well as credited with the development of the World Wide Web and the founding of major tech companies. In this article, we test the theory that truth is better than fiction by introducing you to ten of the most famous hackers, both nefarious and heroic, to let you decide for yourself.

Black Hat Crackers

The Internet abounds with hackers, known as crackers or "black hats," who work to exploit computer systems. They are the ones you've seen on the news being hauled away for cybercrimes. Some of them do it for fun and curiosity, while others are looking for personal gain. In this section we profile five of the most famous and interesting "black hat" hackers.

1. Jonathan James: James gained notoriety when he became the first juvenile to be sent to prison for hacking. He was sentenced at 16 years old. In an anonymous PBS interview, he professes, "I was just looking around, playing around. What was fun for me was a challenge to see what I could pull off."

James' major intrusions targeted high-profile organizations. He installed a backdoor into a Defense Threat Reduction Agency server. The DTRA is an agency of the Department of Defense charged with reducing the threat to the U.S. and its allies from nuclear, biological, chemical, conventional and special weapons. The backdoor he created enabled him to view sensitive e-mails and capture employee usernames and passwords.

James also cracked into NASA computers, stealing software worth approximately $1.7 million. According to the Department of Justice, "The software supported the International Space Station's physical environment, including control of the temperature and humidity within the living space." NASA was forced to shut down its computer systems, ultimately racking up a $41,000 cost. James explained that he downloaded the code to supplement his studies on C programming, but contended, "The code itself was crappy . . .certainly not worth $1.7 million like they claimed."

Given the extent of his intrusions, if James, also known as "c0mrade," had been an adult he likely would have served at least ten years. Instead, he was banned from recreational computer use and was slated to serve a six-month sentence under house arrest with probation. However, he served six months in prison for violation of parole. Today, James asserts that he's learned his lesson and might start a computer security company.

2. Adrian Lamo: Lamo's claim to fame is his break-ins at major organizations like The New York Times and Microsoft. Dubbed the "homeless hacker," he used Internet connections at Kinko's, coffee shops and libraries to do his intrusions. In a profile article, "He Hacks by Day, Squats by Night," Lamo reflects, "I have a laptop in Pittsburgh, a change of clothes in D.C. It kind of redefines the term multi-jurisdictional."

Lamo's intrusions consisted mainly of penetration testing, in which he found flaws in security, exploited them and then informed companies of their shortcomings. His hits include Yahoo!, Bank of America, Citigroup and Cingular. When white hat hackers are hired by companies to do penetration testing, it's legal. What Lamo did is not.

When he broke into The New York Times' intranet, things got serious. He added himself to a list of experts and viewed personal information on contributors, including Social Security numbers. Lamo also hacked into The Times' LexisNexis account to research high-profile subject matter.

For his intrusion at The New York Times, Lamo was ordered to pay approximately $65,000 in restitution. He was also sentenced to six months of home confinement and two years of probation, which expired January 16, 2007. Lamo is currently working as an award-winning journalist and public speaker.

3. Kevin Mitnick: A self-proclaimed "hacker poster boy," Mitnick went through a highly publicized pursuit by authorities. His mischief was hyped by the media but his actual offenses may be less notable than his notoriety suggests. The Department of Justice describes him as "the most wanted computer criminal in United States history." His exploits were detailed in two movies: Freedom Downtime and Takedown.

Mitnick had a bit of hacking experience before committing the offenses that made him famous. He started out exploiting the Los Angeles bus punch card system to get free rides. Then, like Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak, dabbled in phone phreaking. Although there were numerous offenses, Mitnick was ultimately convicted for breaking into the Digital Equipment Corporation's computer network and stealing software.

Mitnick's mischief got serious when he went on a two and a half year "coast-to-coast hacking spree." The CNN article, "Legendary computer hacker released from prison," explains that "he hacked into computers, stole corporate secrets, scrambled phone networks and broke into the national defense warning system." He then hacked into computer expert and fellow hacker Tsutomu Shimomura's home computer, which led to his undoing.

Today, Mitnick has been able to move past his role as a black hat hacker and become a productive member of society. He served five years, about 8 months of it in solitary confinement, and is now a computer security consultant, author and speaker.

4. Kevin Poulsen: Also known as Dark Dante, Poulsen gained recognition for his hack of LA radio's KIIS-FM phone lines, which earned him a brand new Porsche, among other items. Law enforcement dubbed him "the Hannibal Lecter of computer crime."

Authorities began to pursue Poulsen after he hacked into a federal investigation database. During this pursuit, he further drew the ire of the FBI by hacking into federal computers for wiretap information.

His hacking specialty, however, revolved around telephones. Poulsen's most famous hack, KIIS-FM, was accomplished by taking over all of the station's phone lines. In a related feat, Poulsen also "reactivated old Yellow Page escort telephone numbers for an acquaintance who then ran a virtual escort agency." Later, when his photo came up on the show Unsolved Mysteries, 1-800 phone lines for the program crashed. Ultimately, Poulsen was captured in a supermarket and served a sentence of five years.

Since serving time, Poulsen has worked as a journalist. He is now a senior editor for Wired News. His most prominent article details his work on identifying 744 sex offenders with MySpace profiles.

5. Robert Tappan Morris: Morris, son of former National Security Agency scientist Robert Morris, is known as the creator of the Morris Worm, the first computer worm to be unleashed on the Internet. As a result of this crime, he was the first person prosecuted under the 1986 Computer Fraud and Abuse Act.

Morris wrote the code for the worm while he was a student at Cornell. He asserts that he intended to use it to see how large the Internet was. The worm, however, replicated itself excessively, slowing computers down so that they were no longer usable. It is not possible to know exactly how many computers were affected, but experts estimate an impact of 6,000 machines. He was sentenced to three years' probation, 400 hours of community service and a fined $10,500.

Morris is currently working as a tenured professor at the MIT Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence Laboratory. He principally researches computer network architectures including distributed hash tables such as Chord and wireless mesh networks such as Roofnet.

White Hat Hackers

Hackers that use their skills for good are classified as "white hat." These white hats often work as certified "Ethical Hackers," hired by companies to test the integrity of their systems. Others, operate without company permission by bending but not breaking laws and in the process have created some really cool stuff. In this section we profile five white hat hackers and the technologies they have developed.

1. Stephen Wozniak: "Woz" is famous for being the "other Steve" of Apple. Wozniak, along with current Apple CEO Steve Jobs, co-founded Apple Computer. He has been awarded with the National Medal of Technology as well as honorary doctorates from Kettering University and Nova Southeastern University. Additionally, Woz was inducted into the National Inventors Hall of Fame in September 2000.

Woz got his start in hacking making blue boxes, devices that bypass telephone-switching mechanisms to make free long-distance calls. After reading an article about phone phreaking in Esquire, Wozniak called up his buddy Jobs. The pair did research on frequencies, then built and sold blue boxes to their classmates in college. Wozniak even used a blue box to call the Pope while pretending to be Henry Kissinger.

Wozniak dropped out of college and came up with the computer that eventually made him famous. Jobs had the bright idea to sell the computer as a fully assembled PC board. The Steves sold Wozniak's cherished scientific calculator and Jobs' VW van for capital and got to work assembling prototypes in Jobs' garage. Wozniak designed the hardware and most of the software. In the Letters section of Woz.org, he recalls doing "what Ed Roberts and Bill Gates and Paul Allen did and tons more, with no help." Wozniak and Jobs sold the first 100 of the Apple I to a local dealer for $666.66 each.

Woz no longer works full time for Apple, focusing primarily on philanthropy instead. Most notable is his function as fairy godfather to the Los Gatos School District. "Wozniak 'adopted' the Los Gatos School District, providing students and teachers with hands-on teaching and donations of state-of-the-art technology equipment."

2. Tim Berners-Lee: Berners-Lee is famed as the inventor of the World Wide Web, the system that we use to access sites, documents and files on the Internet. He has received numerous recognitions, most notably the Millennium Technology Prize.

While a student at Oxford University, Berners-Lee was caught hacking access with a friend and subsequently banned from University computers. w3.org reports, "Whilst [at Oxford], he built his first computer with a soldering iron, TTL gates, an M6800 processor and an old television." Technological innovation seems to have run in his genes, as Berners-Lee's parents were mathematicians who worked on the Manchester Mark1, one of the earliest electronic computers.

While working with CERN, a European nuclear research organization, Berners-Lee created a hypertext prototype system that helped researchers share and update information easily. He later realized that hypertext could be joined with the Internet. Berners-Lee recounts how he put them together: "I just had to take the hypertext idea and connect it to the TCP and DNS ideas and – ta-da! – the World Wide Web."

Since his creation of the World Wide Web, Berners-Lee founded the World Wide Web Consortium at MIT. The W3C describes itself as "an international consortium where Member organizations, a full-time staff and the public work together to develop Web standards." Berners-Lee's World Wide Web idea, as well as standards from the W3C, is distributed freely with no patent or royalties due.

3. Linus Torvalds: Torvalds fathered Linux, the very popular Unix-based operating system. He calls himself "an engineer," and has said that his aspirations are simple, "I just want to have fun making the best damn operating system I can."

Torvalds got his start in computers with a Commodore VIC-20, an 8-bit home computer. He then moved on to a Sinclair QL. Wikipedia reports that he modified the Sinclair "extensively, especially its operating system." Specifically, Torvalds hacks included "an assembler and a text editor…as well as a few games."

Torvalds created the Linux kernel in 1991, using the Minix operating system as inspiration. He started with a task switcher in Intel 80386 assembly and a terminal driver. After that, he put out a call for others to contribute code, which they did. Currently, only about 2 percent of the current Linux kernel is written by Torvalds himself. The success of this public invitation to contribute code for Linux is touted as one of the most prominent examples of free/open source software.

Currently, Torvalds serves as the Linux ringleader, coordinating the code that volunteer programmers contribute to the kernel. He has had an asteroid named after him and received honorary doctorates from Stockholm University and University of Helsinki. He was also featured in Time Magazine's "60 Years of Heroes."

4. Richard Stallman: Stallman's fame derives from the GNU Project, which he founded to develop a free operating system. For this, he's known as the father of free software. His "Serious Bio" asserts, "Non-free software keeps users divided and helpless, forbidden to share it and unable to change it. A free operating system is essential for people to be able to use computers in freedom."

Stallman, who prefers to be called rms, got his start hacking at MIT. He worked as a "staff hacker" on the Emacs project and others. He was a critic of restricted computer access in the lab. When a password system was installed, Stallman broke it down, resetting passwords to null strings, then sent users messages informing them of the removal of the password system.

Stallman's crusade for free software started with a printer. At the MIT lab, he and other hackers were allowed to modify code on printers so that they sent convenient alert messages. However, a new printer came along – one that they were not allowed to modify. It was located away from the lab and the absence of the alerts presented an inconvenience. It was at this point that he was "convinced…of the ethical need to require free software."

With this inspiration, he began work on GNU. Stallman wrote an essay, "The GNU Project," in which he recalls choosing to work on an operating system because it's a foundation, "the crucial software to use a computer." At this time, the GNU/Linux version of the operating system uses the Linux kernel started by Torvalds. GNU is distributed under "copyleft," a method that employs copyright law to allow users to use, modify, copy and distribute the software.

Stallman's life continues to revolve around the promotion of free software. He works against movements like Digital Rights Management (or as he prefers, Digital Restrictions Management) through organizations like Free Software Foundation and League for Programming Freedom. He has received extensive recognition for his work, including awards, fellowships and four honorary doctorates.

5. Tsutomu Shimomura: Shimomura reached fame in an unfortunate manner: he was hacked by Kevin Mitnick. Following this personal attack, he made it his cause to help the FBI capture him.

Shimomura's work to catch Mitnick is commendable, but he is not without his own dark side. Author Bruce Sterling recalls: "He pulls out this AT&T cellphone, pulls it out of the shrinkwrap, finger-hacks it, and starts monitoring phone calls going up and down Capitol Hill while an FBI agent is standing at his shoulder, listening to him."

Shimomura out-hacked Mitnick to bring him down. Shortly after finding out about the intrusion, he rallied a team and got to work finding Mitnick. Using Mitnick's cell phone, they tracked him near Raleigh-Durham International Airport. The article, "SDSC Computer Experts Help FBI Capture Computer Terrorist" recounts how Shimomura pinpointed Mitnick's location. Armed with a technician from the phone company, Shimomura "used a cellular frequency direction-finding antenna hooked up to a laptop to narrow the search to an apartment complex." Mitnick was arrested shortly thereafter. Following the pursuit, Shimomura wrote a book about the incident with journalist John Markoff, which was later turned into a movie.

The arm-mounted DAP contains an accelerometer that links to the earphone-mounted pulse monitor, enabling the BODiBEAT to play tracks that match your running rhythm, switching songs as you speed up and slow down. It doesn't look the like unit actually changes the speed of your music, so Yamaha has thoughtfully included a range of preloaded beat loops that remix themselves at every tempo to cover any gaps. Good thing, too, since the puny 512MB of memory means you'll be out of music by the end of the block. Expect to see the BODiBEAT popping up at the gym later this summer for an astronomical $299.

Olympus is planning on taking head-mounted displays out of the "giant nerd" category and into the "scary dystopian future" realm with a new project to develop a completely wireless system that can also double as eyeglasses. While most other HMDs we've seen feature a cable snaking across your body to an external power pack, Olympus has expanded on its previous efforts (pictured) and is already prototyping a 3-ounce unit with an internal power source powering two side-mounted 110,000-pixel displays that project email onto the lenses. Brammo is an Ashland, Oregon-based manufacturer that designed and built the bike, making sure that the bike has six 12 Volt lithium-phosphate batteries -- which don't blow up when punctured, unlike Lithium Ion models. It only weighs 275 pounds too, and most of the weight is near the road because the fuel tank isn't needed. The only problem now is the price: $14,995 for the "Carbon" model, and $11,995 for a later model once production is ramped up.

Researchers tout 500GB optical discs

Compared to some of the recent optical disc advances we've seen, 500GB may not seem like all that much, but according to the researchers behind the so-called "Microholas" project, they've found a means to cram that amount onto "regular" HD DVD or Blu-ray discs. The key, it seems, is a new microholographic recording technique that makes use of nanostructures inside the disc to squeeze in as much data as possible. They're apparently not quite satisfied with the results just yet though, saying that they expect the technology to one day let them store a full terabyte of data on a single disc, which they assure us will not be used to "stash away a thousand movies," but instead be used for "secure long-term storage."

iPhone hacked for shell access

Well, that didn't take long -- the hacker crew of IRC channel #iPhone has managed to enable shell access to the iPhone just a week after its release. There's not a lot to the hack -- the iPhone's 30-pin dock connector features the same pinouts as the iPod, so creating a serial connection simply involved connecting up a resistor, ground, and RS-232 level converter and running a few commands from iphoneinterface. The resulting shell is pretty basic, but features a TFTP client -- meaning that we should see a flood of attempts to open the iPhone up in the coming weeks (as if we wouldn't anyway).

Chinese welder killed by exploding cellphone battery

Reportedly, a 22-year old Chinese welder actually perished after a cellphone battery residing in his pocket exploded. The eruption was so violent, in fact, that it "broke a rib and drove the remnants of the pack into his heart," and while rescue crews were able to get him to a hospital, he passed away shortly thereafter. Currently, the manufacturer of the phone and battery are being withheld, but expects in Jinta were dispatched in order to conduct an investigation.

Olympus' projectors and camcorders do a 360 -- still can't ollie

Olympus is experimenting with a new lens capable of a 360-degree horizontal projection or capture. Better yet, they seem to have bunged it together with video processing equipment. According to Google's translation robots, CCD-based projectors and cameras (pictured) fitted with the new "axial symmetrical free curved surface lens" are entering into a period of trial manufacture. Combining a 45-degree vertical field of vision, the Olympus camera would be ideally suited for ceiling mounted surveillance while the projector would likely be little more than a novelty in rev-1. While some have already taken their own initiative to give the Nintendo DS a camera, it looks like the rest of us will soon have a considerably easier go of it, as Nintendo's set to release its own camera for the handheld, along with a game to take full advantage of it. The game, Face Training, is designed to aid you in the practice of "facening," Wired News reports, which supposedly improves your appearance through a series of facial exercises. Likely of more interest to most however, is the camera itself, which takes advantage of DS's GBA slot, with a stand also provided to give your arms a rest. Unfortunately, there's no word on any other uses for the camera just yet, although it would seem unlikely that it'd be reserved for just one game. Look for the game and camera bundle to set you back ¥4,800 ($39) when it hits Japan (and Japan only) on August 2nd.

It's been a while since we've seen people muck around with long-distance WiFi -- not only are DIY solutions like cantennas possibly illegal, sexier technologies like WiMAX have emerged to better serve those long-distance IP needs. WiFi's flame burns on in Latin America, however, where researcher Ermanno Pietrosemoli has managed to shoot an 802.11 signal 382 kilometers (237 miles) between two mountains in the Venezuelan Andes. Pietrosemoli, who is president of Latin American networking association Escuela Latinoamerica de Redes, used some of Intel's long-range WiFi tech and $60 worth of Linksys hardware to achieve throughput of 3 Mbps in each direction and beat the former record of 310 kilometers (192 miles). Pietrosemoli hopes to use the tech to serve developing nations, but seeing as we barely get 3 Mbps in our WiFi-choked apartment building with the laptop sitting next to the router, we're hoping he lets us in on the secret as well.

Given that mobile phones require power, and access to power can be unpredictable - how do people keep their mobile phones and other electrical devices charged? Last July a Nokia research team travelled to Uganda and explored this issue as part of a more in-depth study into shared phone use.

There are two forms of mobile phone battery charging services in Kampala - either offered as an additional service by phone kiosk operators or as a stand alone service. It costs 500 Ugandan Shillings (0.2 Euro) to have a battery recharged similar to the price of 2 or 3 phone calls. Whist both services appear to thrive there are a number of barriers to use: customers cannot use their phone whilst the battery is being charged; the customer risks, or perceives the risk that their battery being swapped for an inferior one; a perceived risk of phone theft - signs that suggest service providers are not responsible for loss or theft are evident.

HATOYAMA, Japan - Forget the clicker: A new technology in Japan could let you control electronic devices without lifting a finger simply by reading brain activity.

The "brain-machine interface" developed by Hitachi Inc. analyzes slight changes in the brain's blood flow and translates brain motion into electric signals.

A cap connects by optical fibers to a mapping device, which links, in turn, to a toy train set via a control computer and motor during one recent demonstration at Hitachi's Advanced Research Laboratory in Hatoyama, just outside Tokyo.

"Take a deep breath and relax," said Kei Utsugi, a researcher, while demonstrating the device on Wednesday.

At his prompting, a reporter did simple calculations in her head, and the train sprang forward — apparently indicating activity in the brain's frontal cortex, which handles problem solving.

Activating that region of the brain — by doing sums or singing a song — is what makes the train run, according to Utsugi. When one stops the calculations, the train stops, too.

Underlying Hitachi's brain-machine interface is a technology called optical topography, which sends a small amount of infrared light through the brain's surface to map out changes in blood flow.

Although brain-machine interface technology has traditionally focused on medical uses, makers like Hitachi and Japanese automaker Honda Motor Co. have been racing to refine the technology for commercial application.

Hitachi's scientists are set to develop a brain TV remote controller letting users turn a TV on and off or switch channels by only thinking.

Honda, whose interface monitors the brain with an MRI machine like those used in hospitals, is keen to apply the interface to intelligent, next-generation automobiles.

The technology could one day replace remote controls and keyboards and perhaps help disabled people operate electric wheelchairs, beds or artificial limbs.

Initial uses would be helping people with paralyzing diseases communicate even after they have lost all control of their muscles.

Since 2005, Hitachi has sold a device based on optical topography that monitors brain activity in paralyzed patients so they can answer simple questions — for example, by doing mental calculations to indicate "yes" or thinking of nothing in particular to indicate "no."

"We are thinking of various kinds of applications," project leader Hideaki Koizumi said. "Locked-in patients can speak to other people by using this kind of brain machine interface."

A key advantage to Hitachi's technology is that sensors don't have to physically enter the brain. Earlier technologies developed by U.S. companies like Neural Signals Inc. required implanting a chip under the skull.

Still, major stumbling blocks remain.

Size is one issue, though Hitachi has developed a prototype compact headband and mapping machine that together weigh only about two pounds.

Another would be to tweak the interface to more accurately pick up on the correct signals while ignoring background brain activity.

Any brain-machine interface device for widespread use would be "a little further down the road," Koizumi said.

He added, however, that the technology is entertaining in itself and could easily be applied to toys.

"It's really fun to move a model train just by thinking," he said.

Ada seorang pemuda yang lama sekolah di luar negeri, kembali ke tanah
air. Sesampainya di rumah ia meminta kepada orang tuanya untuk mencari
seorang guru agama, kiyai atau sesiapa sahaja yang boleh menjawab 3
pertanyaannya.

Akhirnya orang tua pemuda itu mendapatkan orang tersebut, seorang
kiyai.

Pemuda: Anda siapa? Dan apakah bisa menjawab pertanyaan-pertanyaan
saya?

Kiyai : Saya hamba Allah dan dengan izin-Nya saya akan menjawab
pertanyaan anda.

Pemuda: Anda yakin? Sedangkan Profesor dan ramai orang yang pintar
tidak mampu menjawab pertanyaan saya.

Kiyai : Saya akan mencuba sejauh kemampuan saya.

Bunuh diri jelas-jelas diharamkan oleh Islam, berdasarkan dalil umum firman Allah SWT dalam Al-Qur'an yang mengharamkan bunuh diri. Diantarannya firman-Nya:

{وَلاَ تَقْتُلُوا أَنْفُسَكُمْ إِنَّ اللهَ كَانَ بِكُمْ رَحِيْماً} النساء:29

"Janganlah kamu membunuh dirimu sendiri, karena sesungguhnya Allah menyayangi terhadap dirimu," (QS. An-Nisa: 29).

Bunuh diri juga termasuk salah satu dosa besar diletakkan setelah syirik kepada Allah Ta'ala. Bahkan pelakunya akan mendaptkan dosa yang lebih besar dibandingkan dengan orang yang membunuh orang lain tanpa dasar yang benar. Sampai-sampai sebagian ulama fiqh mengatakan:"Orang yang bunuh diri itu tidak dimandikan dan tidak dishalatkan." Ada juga yang menyatakan taubatnya tidak diterima sebagai bentuk kecaman atas si pelaku. Sejumlah hadits Nabi SAW secara implisit menyebutkan bahwa pelaku bunuh diri kekal abadi di neraka. Salah satunya adalah sabda Nabi SAW:

( مَنْ تَرَدَّى من جبلٍ فقتلَ نفسَهُ فهو في نارِ جهنَّم يتردى فيها خالداً مخلداً فيها أبداً ، ومَنْ تَحَسَّى سُمَّاً فَقَتَلَ نفسَه فَسُمُّهُ في يَدِهِ يَتَحَسَّاهُ في نـار جَهَنَّمَ خالداً مُخَلَّداً فيها أبداً ، ومَنْ قَتَلَ نَفْسَهُ بحديدةٍ فحديدَتُهُ في يَدِهِ يَجَأ بها في بَطْنِهِ في نار جَهَنَّمَ خالداً مُخَلَّداً فيها أبداً ) متفق عليه .

"Barangsiapa yang jatuh dari gunung, kemudian bunuh diri maka ia di dalam api neraka akan dijatuhkan kedalamnya selama-lamanya, abadi didalamnya. Barangsiapa makan racun bunuh diri, maka racun yang ia makan itu akan dibawanya ke nerakan jahannam kekal abadi didalamnya. Barangsiapa bunuh diri dengan besi maka besi yang ia gunakan itu akan menusuknya di neraka jahannam dan ia kekal abadi didalamnya." (Muttafaq 'Alaihi).

Syeikh Ateyya Saqar, salah seorang ulama besar Al-Azhar pernah mengatakan:"Barangsiapa yang mati dalam keadaan mogok makan seperti itu maka ia tergolong bunuh diri. Padahal bunuh diri itu salah satu bentuk dosa besar, jika ia menganggap boleh (bunuh diri), ia telah kafir. Tidak boleh dimandikan, dishalatkan, dan tidak boleh dimakamkan di kuburan orang Islam."

Jack and Max are walking from religious service. Jack wonders whether it would be all right to smoke while praying.

Max replies, "Why don't you ask the Priest?"

So Jack goes up to the Priest and asks, " Father, may I smoke while I pray?"

The Priest replies, "No, my son, you may not! That's utter disrespect to our religion."

Jack goes back to his friend and tells him what the good Priest told him.

Max says, "I'm not surprised. You asked the wrong question. Let me try."

And so Max goes up to the Priest and asks, "Father, may I pray while I smoke ?"

To which the Priest eagerly replies, "By all means, my son. By all means. You can always pray whenever you want to."

Kisah Anak Paderi Yg Memeluk Agama Islam

Kisah Farhan (Kisah Perjalanannya Masuk Islam) Nama saya Farhan Bin Abdullah. Nama asal saya sewaktu beragama Kristian ialah Johanis. Saya dilahirkan dibumi Sabah dalam keluarga Kristian. Bapa saya seorang ketua Paderi yang menjaga 15 buah gereja disatu kawasan di Sabah. Saya dilatih oleh bapa saya untuk menjadi seorang paderi. Sejak mula PBS bawah Datuk Joseph Pairin Kitinggan usaha kami mendapat sokongan penuh kerajaan negeri.

Kumpulan saya masuk ke kampong dalam berbagai program. Selalunya program khidmat masyarakat. Pihak gereja selalunya membekalkan wang tunai sekitar RM50,000/=. Berbagai aturcara dibuat untuk membantu orang kampong. Kami ziarah rumah kerumah. tanya masalah mereka dan bantu mereka. berbagai masalah diluahkan. Ada kami bantu dengan duit secara spontan. Ada kami hantar keperluan harian,p akaian dan buku sekolah dsn.

Dengan cara ini kami mendekati mereka. Hasilnya dengan beberapa kali kunjungan susulan,kami berjaya mengkristiankan mereka. Paling berbaloi kami mengkristian remaja Islam,tambah berbaloi dari kalangan intelek.Hasilnya kami dapat RM3,000/= setiap seorang Islam yang dimurtadkan. Bayangkan pendapatan saya ketika masih dialam persekolahan. Sewaktu Tingkatan 3 saya dan beberapa rakan mengambil m/pelajaran Agama Islam yang boleh dipilih dengan lukisan(betapa hinanya m/pelajaran ini setanding dengan lukisan). Saya mendapat A-3. Sewaktu tingkatan 4 saya belajar di sekolah asrama penuh. Saya terus ambil pelajaran Agama Islam.

Tujuan saya untuk tahu mengenai Islam dan memudahkan saya menyebarkan agama kristian. Saya mempunyai beberapa soalan yang saya kira tidak mampu dihuraikan oleh orang Islam. Pada suatu hari sewaktu tingkatan Enam bawah, saya bersemuka dengan Ustaz yang mengajar saya (saya panggil > cikgu). "cikgu saya ada beberapa soalan, tapi saya rasa tak sesuai dikelas ini, boleh ke saya kerumah cikgu..."

Ustaz itu bersedia. Lalu saya bersama beberapa rakan kerumah ustaz itu.

Saya katakan "cikgu saya mahu berdialog secara ilmiah, bukan atas nama Islam,agama cikgu dan bukan atas nama Kristian,agama saya". saya kemukakan beberapa persoalan, antaranya;- - Mengapa orang Islam sembah kaabah -Sebenarnya semua agama sama sahaja. Nasrani, Yahudi, Kristian dan Islam adalah agama langit. -Mengapa diakhir zaman, Nabi Isa akan turun bersama Iman Mahadi membebaskan kezaliman dan kekacauan dan bukannya Nabi Muhammad.

Mengapa dalam sejarah dan hingga kini orang Islam suka peperangan.Injil sekarang dikatakan diseleweng.Kalau begitu mana yang asalnya. Yang menghairankan ustaz ini dapat menjawab pertanyaan saya dan kawan -kawan dengan begitu ilmiah. Saya dan kawan -kawan mati akal.

Kemudian saya dibebani dengan 3 persoalan yang tidak mampu saya menjawab secara tepat.

Apakah boleh manusia(paderi) mengampunkan dosa manusia lain. -

Persoalan ketuhanan 3 dalam 1 dan 1 dalam 3 -

konsep ketuhanan Jesus.

Saya mengatur pertemuan ustaz saya dengan beberapa orang paderi, kawan-kawan bapa saya. tetapi mereka enggan. Lalu saya bawa ustaz itu kerumah saya dan bertemu bapa saya seorang ketua paderi. Ternyata bapa saya juga tidak mampu menjawab persoalan yang dibawa oleh ustaz itu. Sebaik ustaz itu pulang, bapa saya memarahi saya kerana bawa 'orang malaya' datang ke rumah.

Sejak itu beberapa kali saya tidur rumah ustaz itu. Disamping mengulangkaji saya gemar berdialog dengan ustaz itu. saya memerhatikan kehidupan ustaz tu,saya mengagumi cara hidupnya.

Suatu malam saya bermimpi didatangi 3 orang berjubah. Seorang berjubah hitam membawa salib. Seorang berjubah putih membawa bendera bertulisan jawi. Dan seorang berjubah hijau yang meminta saya membuat pilihan.Yang berjubah hitam dan berjubah putih saling menarik saya mengikuti mereka.

Saya meronta-ronta. Disamping itu saya dapati yang berjubah hitam semakin tengelam dan yang berjubah putih semakin tinggi. Sedang saya meronta-ronta, saya terjaga. Saya mendengar suara azan dan ustaz tadi berada ditepi saya dan berkata," mengapa Johanis....awak mengigau.... "

Saya pegang tangan ustaz itu, saya katakan,"Cikgu Islamkan saya........ .".Ustaz itu minta saya bersabar untuk dia uruskan dengan pihak tertentu. Tidak lama selepas itu saya pun di Islamkan oleh Ustaz itu.

Selesai pengIslaman saya, saya pulang ke rumah. Sampai di rumah, saya lihat pakaian saya bertabur diluar rumah. Rupanya bapa saya telah tahu.Sebaik melihat saya, bapa bergegas masuk dan keluar semula dengan mengacu senapang ke arah saya. Tiba-tiba emak menerkam dan peluru senapang meletup keatas.

Saya segera meninggalkan rumah sehelai sepinggang. Tinggalkan keluarga saya. Tinggalkan sekolah. Saya bersembunyi sekejap rumah ustaz sebelum saya dibawa oleh ustaz pulang ke semenanjung sebaik habis kontrak mengajar di Sabah.

Saya diserahkan kepada PERKIM di Kuala Lumpur. Secara kebetulan rakan saya Nazri,vokalis kumpulan Raihan juga memeluk Islam, tetapi mengikuti kumpulan Ar-Arqam. 2 lagu dalam album pertama kumpulan Raihan adalah saduran lagu koir yang kami nyanyikan dalam gereja sewaktu di Sabah dulu..6 tahun saya di PERKIM. Saya masuk pula Maahad Tahfiz. Alhamdulillah saya dapat sijil Al-Hafiz selepas 3 tahun. Kemudian saya bekerja dengan Jabatan Agama Islam. Saya banyak masuk kawasan di Negeri Sembilan, Melaka dan Pahang. Tak sampai setahun saya letak jawatan.Saya sedih kerana ramai pendakwah ini nak berdakwah pun merungut duit over time.Saya rasa tiada keiklasan. Biarlah saya jadi pendakwah bebas. Saya Ingin membilas dosa lalu. Saya telah ramai memurtadkan orang..kini saya mahu berjuang untuk mengIslamkan seramai mungkin dengan kualiti bukan kuantiti saja.

Berbalik kisah keluarga saya. Selepas meninggalkan rumah dan belajar di PERKIM saya selalu telefon ayah,emak dan adik beradik saya. Saya katakan jangan bencikan saya. Saya sayang ayah.saya sayang emak.saya sayang adik beradik saya. Ayah dan emak tetap ayah emak dunia dan akhirat.

Walaupun ayah menyambut dingin suara saya, saya hantarkan buku-buku Yang sesuai menerangkan tentang Islam. 7 tahun saya telefon. 7 tahun saya hantar surat dan buku-buku. saya menangis kerana rindukan ayah,emak dan adik beradik. Akhirnya, sewaktu saya di Maahad Tahfiz, bagaikan halilintar saya mendapat berita...... .. Ayah saya menganut Agama Islam.

Allah saja yang tahu perasaan saya ketika itu. Saya menangis dan menangis. Saya ambil wuduk dan sujud syukur. Air mata saya menjadi terlalu murah....saya terus menangis...saya pejamkan mata...saya bayangkan ayah dihadapan... saya peluk erat tubuh ayah dan kami menangis bersama..... ...Ya Allah betapa agungnya kekuasaanMu. ...

Peristiwa yang saya alami sewaktu memeluk Islam tu rut dirasai oleh ayah saya. Dia dihalau dari rumah yang diberi oleh pihak gereja. Kini saya pendakwah bebas. Saya sedih melihat umat Islam hari ini berpecah.Kita berpecah kerana kita meninggalkan Quran dan sunnah Rasul. Kita ambil sebahagian dan kita tinggalkan sebahagian.

Kita ambil contah pelaksanaan hukum Hudud dan Qisas. Mengapa kita cari jalan nak menentang pelaksanaanya. Sepatutnya kita cari jalan supaya dapat dilaksanakan. Inilah sikap umat Islam. Saya pernah berdialog dengan beberapa orang pensyarah universiti tentang isu Hudud & Qisas.Dia boleh sergah saya,"You apa tahu... Islam pun baru setahun jagung....."

Saya sedih dengan sergahan pensyarah itu. Kalau ini sikap pendakwah Saya tak akan masuk Islam. Tapi saya pilih Islam kerana saya tahu Apa itu Islam. kerana itu saya ajak menghayati Islam.Saya kumpulkan semula kawan-ka wan masa Kristian dulu. Saya berdialog tentang Islam. Saya kumpulkan derma untuk tujuan dakwah ini,untuk bergerak perlukan wang. Saya diancam oleh puak Kristian. saya juga diancam oleh umat Islam.

Apa tauliah awak ,mana kebenaran Jabatan Agama,mana permit polis,sapa benarkan pungut derma dll. Saya tak gentar berdialog dengan puak Kristian,kerana saya ada pengalaman tapi sukarnya bila Umat Islam sendiri menyulitkan saya.

Marilah kita awasi dakyah Kristian. Satu usaha yang agak ketara ialah Di IPT. Pendakyah ini mendekati kaum muslimah,pura- pura nak belajar Islam....jatuh cinta...lalu dimurtadkan. ..ada yang pura-pura masuk Islam....dan dimurtadkan.

Saya sudah pergi banyak IPT. Saya paling bimbang di Universiti Putra Malaysia . Itulah satu-satunya Universiti yang ada gereja. Gereja ini antara yang aktif untuk memurtadkan orang Islam. Saya nak nasihatkan kalau ada saudara kita terminum 'Holly Water'.

Sebenarnya air ini dibuat di Vatican City . Dijampi oleh paderi Termasuk Pope John Paul yang jemput Perdana Menteri kita dul u. Kalau terminum, cari air kolah dari 3 masjid. Seorang pemuda baru saja baru sahaja pulang kerumah. Ia sendirian dibiliknya melepas lelah sambil menatap langit yang membiru.

Kesibukan menyelenggarakan ceramah keislaman di masjid betul2 meletihkan.

Suasana hening dan damai kerana di flat kediamannya kerana ramai penghuni
masih belum balik dari kerja

Dari balik dinding sayup-sayup terdengar perbualan jirannya seorang Ibu tua
dengan anaknya.

Anak : Ibu..

Ibu : Hmmm ?

Anak : BU !

Ibu : APA ?

Anak : Mmm, anu ... tadi saya ke masjid dengar ceramah..

Ibu dengarlah ni !

Ibu : IYA ! Ibu dengar. Cakap ajalah. Kan ibu tengah sibuk
memasuk kan benang kejarum ni. Susah pulak rasanya. Agaknya mata
ibu sudah
nak rabun...

Anak : Bu !

Ibu : Apa dia ? cakap ajelah, Yang ?

Anak : Tadi, di masjid seorang ustaz bercerita soal jilbab. Katanya pakai
jilbab itu wajib. Ibu, Mulai sekarang saya mau pakai jilbab. Boleh tak Bu..
?

Ibu : Jangan ...

Pemuda dari balik dinding makin menajamkan perhatian pendengarannya.

Anak : Tapi tu perintah Allah. Kalau tidak patuh kita berdosa, Bu.Boleh ya,
saya mau pakai jilbab ?

Ibu : Kan ibu kata JANGAN ...

Anak : Tapi bu.. bukan lebih baik saya memakai jilbab kerana kerana kita
orang islam dan sudah tentu dapat menjaga maruah dan harga diri saya..

tak bu...? Bolehlah bu..

Ibu : TIDAK !

Anak : Kenapa ? Atau ibu terpengaruh sama cerita bohong pasal memakai
jilbab
? Kata Ustaz, jilbab itu bukan budaya Arab. Itu Syariat Islam. Islam yang
sebenar bukan adat. Dari dulu memang
diwajibkan demikian, bukan trend baru-baru ini aja.

Ibu : Iya, iya Ibu faham tu. Tapi ibu kata JANGAN !

ujikaji bagi mencari bukti bahawa
hidung wanita boleh "digoda" dengan
bau lawan sejenisnya.Dalam uji kaji
yang dilakukan, wangian semulajadi itu
kemudian di sapukan ke atas bibir
puluhan wanita berumur 25 dan 45 tahun
tanpa memberitahu ia adalah bau
peluh lelaki dan hanya diberitahu
bahawa mereka sedang menguji satu
aroma wangian tersebut.Enam jam
pertama selepas itu, skala mood wanita
yang di sapu wangian yang diperbuat
daripada peluh ketiak lelaki tersebut
diukur. Hasilnya sungguh unik. Selain
boleh mencerahkan mood, wangian ketiak
lelaki ternyata dapat membuatkan
wanita menjadi kurang tegang....

Six long months passed by before I would step foot on Egyptian soil once again. In the previous months, the company that I worked for filed for bankruptcy, and the thought of getting back down to Cairo seemed further and further away, but I was determined to continue my reading, learning and questioning. Finally, on a warm summer night, while surfing the Internet, a feeling or an epiphany came over me. I felt that I was wanted no longer to hold on to the things of my past or to live my life the way that it was. Some people talk about seeing a light, or hearing a voice, or something of this nature and I would be the first to say that it sounds very theatrical but I too felt something more than just a whisper but a push or an opening of my heart. I wanted to scream, to shout, to cry, to dance, to run, to laugh all at the same time. I had a complete flood of emotions that to this day, I cannot explain, nor do I really need to. Some things are better enjoyed rather than analyzed. I sent an email to Noha, to tell her what I felt and to ask her what I should do. She was gentle and kind and understood me completely. She told me to relax, to settle down and to gather my feelings. From this day forward, I decided that I had to return to Egypt , to my people, to my home, to find what was calling me there.

My chance to return came while working as a consultant for a telecommunications consulting firm. I was to consult for a top Egyptian company in the marketing section. I enjoyed the work with Hatem, with whom I had a business relationship that was cultivated a several months earlier through my other Egyptian friends, Hany and Hisham, and I were very happy to work for a friendly face. I departed for Egypt at the end of August with the hopes of completing my journey, with the hopes of answering the call that I could not explain.

I started working the next day at the offices where I met some really nice people who immediately made me feel at home. On this day, I met two people that would be instrumental in helping me to make the steps that would point me down the road, Mohammad and Sherief. Upon hearing that I wanted to know more about Islam and to possibly convert, Mohammad invited me to a men’s group where they talked about the Quran and the blessed prophet. After the end of the meeting, we all prayed the evening prayer, Isha. This was my first time to actually participate in a group prayer, and to hear the Fatihah (the first and one of the most important chapters of the Quran). It was so moving and solemn. I could not help but cry as the words from God moved my heart. The next day, I related the story to Hatem and Sherief and they were very supportive. I continued to read and ask questions and felt that my trek was drawing to a close.

September 11th was the catalyst that began to bring things to a close or to fruition. After the attack, all of my work mates came to me and offered their condolences and said that this is not Islam, but something very terrible and please not to think that Muslims are bad people. I could feel the pain and sadness expressed by many. Measured by the climate followed the attacks, people in the West would not believe that Muslims really felt that way. I felt that these words of comfort spoke for many Muslims around the world. As the next few weeks drew on, it was clear that maybe the Middle East was not a safe place for an American, as sentiment against American policy, not Americans, were running rather high. I began to feel rushed and that I would not convert at all, and this was the reason in the first place to come to Cairo. Hundreds convert all over the world everyday but for me, it had to take place in an Islamic Arab country. Pure symbolism, but important symbolism nonetheless. Sensing my frustration, Noha introduced me again to a business acquaintance, Sameh (my dear brother). Sameh gave me a crash course in Wudu (ablution), how to pray, how to behave, what to do and what to give up forever. On October 2, 2001 , Sameh picked me up to go for a ride, and we ended up at Al-Azhar famous Mosque, and there I made my declaration that there is no God except God and Muhammad is His messenger. There was not a dry eye in the place. It was quite an experience for all involved.

I look forward to the day when all those who helped me on my journey to Islam and myself will celebrate together in paradise.

Last but not least, I would like to than my mother for her understanding of my decision to embrace Islam. Your faith in God has been a source of inspiration for me throughout my entire life. Your unwavering reverence for God is a shining example for those who ask “where have all the faithful gone.” They could look to you for guidance. Thank you for helping me to be the man that I am and the man that I am striving to become. May God show you mother the straight path of Islam as an extension of what you are now and a further fulfillment of the purposes and wisdom of your goodness.

Assalamualikum.. Wahh yesterday is my lucky day because i get a chance to see the nasyid band inteam, which is the most famous nasyid band in Malaysia. How happy this feeling only god know... So, glad to see their performance. Nice On stage. Good in voice. Although i'm not among of their "die hard fan" but, i feel so happy after watched their live performance yesterday. Thank to the god because determine the good destiny like yesterday.. Wassalam..

It has been said that the journey of a thousand miles begins with the first step. My journey to Islam was a bit more circuitous but in the end, it led me to the waiting mercy of God.

I first heard about Islam back in 1999 while working for a Finnish software house. I was searching the Net and entered a chat room. While here, I met an Egyptian woman that was curious about wireless technology. We continued to meet and chat via the Internet and discuss the different aspects of wireless solutions and the future of the technology. Throughout our conversations, I asked more and more about Islam and why she believed what she believed. Through it all, she was very patient and understanding of my questions and was very good at explaining things to me about Islam and the differences between Islam and Christianity.

My religious upbringing was fostered by my mother, a devout Christian that has a deep sense of spirituality and belief in God. In some ways, I could say that seeing her faith throughout my upbringing has left my heart open in the search for the true meaning of life. God has blessed me with a mother, who in many ways lives a life of Islam through her daily Christian actions of compassion, and understanding of those around her. My burgeoning interest in Islam coupled with an already instilled belief in God was perhaps the opening that I needed on my journey. Prior to my reversion, I could have been considered a “Christian-lite”. Basically, I was a Christian in name only. While I did believe in God, I had not submitted Him as the maker and creator of my destiny. I felt that this was something I was better off handling rather than letting God decide my fate. Being raised in the West and subjected to the influences with which we are constantly bombarded did not help the situation neither. In a word, you could say that I was living by my own set of rules.

Over the course of about a year, a business relationship developed and I was introduced to several other Muslim gentlemen and we arranged that I would travel down to Cairo. It just so happened that my trip coincided with the holy month of Ramadan. While in Cairo my hosts were [fasting the month of] Ramadan and so were all of the individuals that we were meeting with. I was intrigued that everyone was fasting and “suddenly disappearing”, to return about 15 minutes later. To be part of the crowd, I decided that I would also begin to observe the days of fasting as a sign of solidarity with my hosts. I left Cairo a few weeks later wondering about the ritual with which I had just participated.

I later returned to Cairo for business and was paired with someone in the marketing section of one of the largest ISP’s in Cairo to talk about how to integrate wireless solutions into the market down in Cairo. We were preparing for Cairo Telecomp, a large IT trade fair that required many sleepless days and nights of preparation. My host, Ms. Noha, and I were together night and day working on the presentation that we would deliver. I noticed that at certain times of the day, she would simply excuse herself and suddenly return about 15 minutes later. After a few days of interruptions I confronted her as to what was so important that she had to stop in the middle of or preparations. Shyly, and after several minutes of question avoidance, she admitted that she was going to do her daily prayers, and that she was performing them at their prescribed times. My feelings of annoyance quickly faded away and were replaced with feelings of awe and respect. I too wanted to have this feeling of the importance of God in my life. Slowly I began to ask more and more questions about Islam and what it is like to be a Muslim. Noha never pushed but used a gentle hand to guide me in the direction where I could find the information that I needed to learn more. I left Egypt at the end of Cairo Telecomp confused but with a desire and burning on my heart, not to mention a suitcase full of books to quench my thirst to learn more.

A quick four-day trip brought me back to Cairo towards the end of March 2001. My first stop was to my virtual Islam teacher, to ask her more questions about the things that I had read. The time passed faster than what seemed expected on this trip as there was not enough time in the day to work and to talk about Islam. One important thing that I also realized is that I had fallen in love. My heart was completely with the warm and friendly people that I had grown to care for and to feel as good friends. It was as if God was opening my heart to another side of humanity that I had not known before. Being from the West, one can easily become jaded and not trust or accept the basic acts of kindness that seem to be pervasive in the Middle East. I felt that my heart had found a home.

GELAGAT manusia suka kepada kebebasan. Tidak mahu terikat dalam aspek kehidupan, malah dalam beragama pun mereka mahu kebebasan. Justeru, mereka mencipta istilah dan ideologi yang sesuai dengan kehendak itu, seperti ‘Islam liberal.’

Mereka yang mendukung falsafah ini mengatakan Islam secara liberal lebih sesuai diamalkan dalam masyarakat majmuk, kononnya lebih praktikal dan diterima akal.

Hujah pendukung Islam liberal ini tidak kurang hebat, malah apabila dikaitkan dengan keperluan semasa, ia boleh mempengaruhi orang lain terutama yang cetek pengetahuan lalu menerima ideologi itu dalam kehidupan. Apa yang anda tahu mengenai Islam liberal dan bahaya kepada umat Islam?

Mengikut rentetan sejarah, Islam liberal satu fahaman berteraskan prinsip kebebasan individu tanpa sempadan yang muncul pada kurun ke-16 dan ke-17 ketika zaman Renaissance di Eropah.

Melalui web Jaringan Islam Liberal (JIL), ia dijelaskan sebagai menggambarkan prinsip yang mereka anuti, iaitu Islam yang menekankan kebebasan peribadi dan pembebasan dari struktur sosial-politik yang menindas.

Penolong Pengarah Jabatan Kemajuan Islam Malaysia (Jakim), Zamihan Mat Zin al-Ghari, berkata liberal di sini bermakna dua, kebebasan dan pembebasan.

“Mereka percaya Islam selalu dilekati kata sifat, sebab pada kenyataannya Islam ditafsirkan secara berbeza-beza sesuai dengan keperluan penafsirnya.

“Pihak terbabit memilih satu jenis tafsir dan dengan demikian satu kata sifat terhadap Islam, iaitu liberal. Bagi mewujudkan Islam liberal, pihak terbabit membentuk JIL.

“Berdasarkan tafsiran ini dapatlah disimpulkan bahawa Islam liberal bermaksud sekumpulan golongan yang memperjuangkan prinsip kebebasan dan rasional yang bersifat menyeluruh tanpa sebarang had,” katanya.

Penampilan istilah dan fahaman itu sendiri menunjukkan pendukung terbabit memperjuangkan satu ideologi yang mengamalkan keterbukaan dan kebebasan, sedangkan ia membelakangi batasan syariat Islam itu sendiri.

“Ini termasuk kebebasan memberi pandangan secara terbuka yang tidak terikat kepada pemikiran Islam bahkan melebihi had ajaran Islam itu sendiri, sedangkan Islam mempunyai prinsip al-Hurriyyah (kebebasan) yang tersendiri berasaskan wahyu.

“Apa yang dituntut golongan Islam liberal ialah al-Hurriyyah al-Fikriyyah wa al-I’tiqadiyyah iaitu satu konsep kepercayaan yang mengatakan tiap-tiap individu mesti diberi kebebasan (supreme importance) dalam kehidupan sosial.

“Suara dan hak kebebasan ini cuba diperoleh mereka melalui prinsip peluang sama rata.

“Mereka berpendapat semua orang memiliki hak mutlak untuk memerintah, mencari harta, bercakap dan mengemukakan kepentingan masing-masing.

“Saya berpendapat istilah Islam liberal itu satu rekaan yang menyimpang dari landasan Islam,” katanya.

Menurut Zamihan, secara umumnya ada dua jenis liberal, iaitu liberal bercorak klasik dan moden, dengan liberal klasik menekankan hak asasi dan undang-undang semula jadi merangkumi moral, politik, ekonomi dan sosial manakala liberal moden menekankan dasar awam melalui pengalaman, penelitian dan praktik.

“Islam liberal semuanya menyeleweng sama ada liberal klasik mahupun moden kerana ideologi yang diperjuangkan bertentangan dengan prinsip Islam,” katanya.

Ada beberapa faktor utama yang membantu kemunculan golongan Islam liberal, seperti cabaran terhadap umat Islam, pengaruh orientalis, kelemahan pemimpin Islam, kejumudan ulama dan kejahilan masyarakat.

Ideologi Islam liberal mempunyai beberapa dasar, iaitu kesatuan agama, menjadikan al-Quran sebagai produk budaya, mengkritik dan menghina Rasulullah s.a.w, menafsirkan semula Islam, mentafsir al-Quran secara hermeunatika, menilai semula hadis dan hukum fekah.

“Golongan Islam liberal berpendapat Islam bukan satu-satunya agama yang benar. Bahkan semua agama di dunia ini sama dan benar berdasarkan kepada konsep keseluruhan, iaitu semua agama memiliki Tuhan dan menganjurkan kebaikan.

“Justeru, mereka menganggap masyarakat beragama Islam perlu menerima teologi pluralis dan kefahaman yang menghubungkan semua agama (Lintas agama).

“Sebagai contoh, Nurkholis Majid berpendapat bahawa pluralisme adalah sebuah aturan tuhan (sunnatullah) yang tidak akan berubah.

“Beliau mengibaratkan pluralisme seperti roda, pusat roda itu adalah tuhan dan jaring adalah simbolik dari pelbagai agama,” katanya

Katanya, menurut Alwi Shihab di dalam bukunya, “Islam Inklusif: Menuju Sikap Terbuka Dalam Beragama”, beliau berpendapat bahawa ayat 62 surah al-Baqarah dan ayat 69 surah al-Ma’idah itu bersifat inklusif, bukannya eksklusif untuk umat Islam sahaja.

Pendapat ini disokong oleh Abd Rahman Wahid, Djohan Effendi dan Arief Budiman.

“Ulil absar Abdalla pula mengatakan: Semua agama sama. Semuanya menuju kebenaran. Jadi Islam bukanlah yang paling benar,” katanya.

Bertitik tolak daripada fahaman ini, golongan terbabit, katanya, menyimpulkan bahawa semua agama adalah sama.

“Dengan itu mereka begitu mudah menghalalkan perkahwinan antara penganut yang berbeza agamanya. Mereka mendakwa inilah sebahagian dari hasil ijtihad dan pembaharuan hukum pada dimensi Islam,” katanya.

Golongan Islam liberal juga, katanya, menganggap ilmu usul tafsir, usul hadis, al-jarh wa ta’dil adalah ilmu buatan manusia yang tidak terlepas dari kesilapan dan kecacatan.

“Aliran ini mempunyai kaedah tersendiri dalam menilai hukum fekah. Apa yang diambil adalah tujuan hukum iaitu maslahat, bukannya bentuk hukum berkenaan. Justeru, ketentuan hukum boleh diubah berdasarkan maslahat manusia,” katanya.

Sebagai contoh, pembahagian harta faraid boleh diubah suai mengikut keadilan ahli waris, hak suami menjatuhkan talak boleh dilupuskan dan kes perceraian hanya boleh diputuskan hakim mahkamah sivil, poligami dilarang dan arak tidak haram jika tidak memabukkan.

“Aliran pemikiran Islam liberal adalah produk Barat yang bertentangan dengan prinsip akidah Ahli Sunnah Wal Jamaah.

“Fahaman ini boleh menjadikan seseorang itu sesat dan terkeluar dari Islam. Panel Kajian Syariah Jakim dan Muzakarah Ulama Ipoh 2006 mengklasifikasikan fahaman ini sebagai sesat dan menyesatkan.

“Pemikiran liberal menyumbang kepada perpecahan umat Islam sesebuah negara.

“Kehadiran Muslim liberal juga satu usaha menghidupkan watak munafik zaman awal Islam untuk disesuaikan dengan peradaban zaman kini, justeru anda umat Islam perlu berwaspada ” katanya.

Juara AF4 kandas ujian memandu di jalan raya

KUALA BERANG: Dengan disaksikan lebih 300 peminatnya, Juara Akademi Fantasia 4 (AF4), Faizal atau Mohd Faizal Ramli, 23, gagal dalam ujian memandu yang diambilnya di Sekolah Memandu PSM Academy cawangan Ajil di sini, semalam.

Dia mulanya mendapat markah penuh dalam ujian fasa pertama iaitu mendaki bukit dan meletak kenderaan.

Bagaimanapun, dalam ujian fasa kedua iaitu memandu di jalan raya, penyanyi yang popular dengan lagu ‘Lihatlah’ itu, terkandas.

Anak kelahiran Marang itu dimaklumkan seorang pegawai Jabatan Pengangkutan Jalan (JPJ) dia banyak melakukan kesalahan.

Berikutan itu, Faizal terpaksa menduduki ujian memandu sekali lagi, Isnin depan.

Ada peminat Faizal kecewa apabila mengetahui penyanyi kesayangan mereka itu gagal memperoleh lesen memandu.

Ketika ditemui selepas itu, Faizal berkata dia akan terus berusaha untuk lulus dalam ujian memandu akan datang.

“Saya sedikitpun tidak kecewa dengan kegagalan ini,” katanya yang mendapat lesen belajar memandu (L) pada 29 April lalu selepas menjalani latihan memandu selama 16 jam pada 22 April.

Dia mengucapkan terima kasih kepada sekolah memandu berkenaan yang tidak mengenakan sebarang bayaran untuknya belajar memandu.

“Saya menduduki ujian memandu seperti orang lain kerana tak mahu mendapat lesen terbang yang tidak sah,” katanya.

Faizal mengambil ujian memandu bagi membolehkannya memandu kereta Toyota Vios, satu daripada hadiah yang diperolehnya ketika menjuarai AF4.

Sementara itu, pengurusan sekolah memandu itu memasang kain rentang untuk memaklumkan penyanyi muda itu akan mengambil ujian memandu, semalam.

Ini membuatkan perkarangan sekolah memandu itu didatangi lebih 300 peminat Faizal, termasuk calon yang menunggu untuk menduduki ujian memandu.

Mereka turut tidak melepaskan peluang bergambar dengan penyanyi yang terkenal dengan slogan `Senyum Sokmo’ itu.

Shiv Charan Yadav gagal dalam ujian itu setiap tahun sejak 1969. Ujian berkenaan biasanya diambil oleh pelajar berusia 15 tahun. Yadav sudah berusia 30-an apabila berazam untuk memperbaiki diri menerusi pelajaran.

nas bin Malik meriwayatkan bahawa pernah berlaku musim kemarau pada zaman Rasulullah. Ketika baginda sedang berkhutbah di atas mimbar pada hari Jumaat, seorang Arab Badwi bangkit, lalu bertanya: "Wahai Rasulullah, segala harta benda telah musnah. Seluruh ahli keluarga juga kelaparan. Berdoalah kepada Allah untuk kami agar Allah turunkan hujan."

Baginda lalu mengangkat kedua belah tangan. Pada waktu itu tidak ternampak tompokan-tompokan awan. Tiba-tiba awan seumpana buih berarak. Baginda masih tidak turun dari mimbar hinggalah kami melihat hujan mula menitis membasahi janggutnya. Seharian itu kami ditimpa hujan. Begitu juga keesokannya dan hari selepasnya sehingga tiba hari Jumaat seterusnya. Pada hari itu, Arab Badwi tempoh hari bangun lagi berkata: "Semua bangunan telah runtuh, harta benda juga telah ditenggelami air. Oleh itu, berdoalah kepada Allah untuk kami, wahai Rasulullah."

Baginda lalu menadah tangan ke langit, lalu berdoa, maksudnya, "Ya Allah, berilah manfaat kepada kami, dan janganlah jadikannya musibah kepada kami." (Hadis Riwayat Al-Bukhari)

Pengajaran Daripada Kisah Ini

Daripada kisah di atas, rupa-rupanya untuk meminta sesuatu dari Allah s.w.t terdapat adab, cara dan kaedah yang tertentu. Antaranya adalah:-

* Mengangkat kedua-dua belah tangan semasa berdoa.
* Berdoa dengan penuh keikhlasan kepada Allah.
* Berdoa dengan sabar menanti dimakbulkan Allah.
* Menggunakan ayat yang ringkas dan padat.

While the bottle clearly describes it as “combination” of cucumber and cola, there just isn’t much cola flavor to it. The drink takes on a somewhat sweet and fruity flavor, but the artificial cucumber flavor is noticeable, in my opinion. It’s interesting for a few sips, but then the artificial cucumber aftertaste kicks in, making it pretty nasty. At the supermarket I went to, there was a huge dent in the Ice Cucumber display, which probably meant a lot of people bought a few bottles because of the novelty/hype. It will be interesting to see if its popularity lasts…

HERNDON (Virginia): Amerika Syarikat didakwa sengaja menghalang seorang rakyatnya membawa anak lelaki berusia 3 tahun dari Maghribi ke negara itu hanya kerana nama budak itu menyamai pengasas Hamas, Sheik Ahmed Yassin yang disifatkan Washington sebagai pemimpin kumpulan militan.

Dakwaan itu dibuat satu pertubuhan hak asasi manusia Amerika, Majlis Perhubungan Amerika Islam (CAIR).

Pengarah Perundangan CAIR, Morris Days berkata, Abdeloihab Boujrad berjuang lebih dua tahun bagi memastikan anaknya itu dapat tinggal bersamanya di Virginia.

Malangnya, kerajaan Amerika juga tidak menjelaskan alasan ia menolak permohonan itu.

Nama anak kecil itu adalah Ahmedyassine sama seperti Sheik Ahmed Yassin, pengasas Hamas yang mati dibunuh Israel pada 2004.

Days berkata ramai penduduk Muslim Amerika berdepan masalah permohonan kerakyatan mereka ditolak, ditangguh tanpa alasan munasabah sejak kejadian 11 September 2001.

Kelewatan memproses permohonan bagi anak kecil itu menyertai ibu bapanya sememangnya sukar difahami kecuali namanya jelas mencetuskan masalah.

BERLIN: Pengguna jalan raya di Berlin terkejut semalam apabila mendapati mereka ‘berkongsi’ kawasan sesak itu dengan sekumpulan haiwan termasuk kuda, unta dan kambing yang terlepas dari sebuah zoo berhampiran ibu negara Jerman itu.

Haiwan berkenaan iaitu enam ekor kuda, tiga unta, dua kambing dan seekor llama, terlepas dari sebuah zoo mini di timur Berlin dan muncul di satu bulatan jalan raya sesak kira-kira jam 7 pagi ini.

Polis berkata kehadiran kumpulan haiwan itu mencetuskan kekalutan di jalan raya berkenaan tetapi tiada sebarang kemalangan jiwa berlaku.

Rasulullah wajib jadi idola seluruh ummah

Daripada Anas bin Malik katanya: “Rasulullah SAW bertemu dengan beberapa orang anak lalu Baginda memberi salam kepada mereka.” (Hadis riwayat Muslim)

Rasulullah SAW adalah manusia sempurna yang kaya dengan sifat terpuji. Justeru, Baginda adalah orang yang wajib dicintai dan diteladani melebihi manusia lain. Bagindalah idola yang sepatutnya dipuja oleh kita umat Islam, dulu, kini dan selamanya sama ada remaja, kanak-kanak mahu pun dewasa.

Jika kita hidup pada zaman Baginda, nescaya Bagindalah orang terbaik yang sentiasa ingin kita tiru gaya hidupnya, penampilannya seperti remaja kita sekarang yang memuja dan meniru apa saja dipakai, dibuat, dilakukan atau apa yang berkaitan dengan diri orang diminatinya.

Semuanya baik belaka. Rasulullah contohnya pandai memikat hati sesiapa saja yang melihat atau berasa kehadirannya. Mana tidak, Baginda tidak pernah menyakiti hati sesiapa. Ketika bersalaman, Baginda tidak melepaskan tangan sehingga yang dijabat itu melepaskannya.

Rasulullah mengangkat tangan dan memberikan salam apabila melepasi kumpulan kanak-kanak sebagai tanda hormat dan kasih kepada mereka, tidak kurang juga Baginda menghormati orang tua, kawan mahupun lawan.

Inilah sifat sejati seorang yang pandai menjaga hati peminatnya. Baginda melakukan semua itu bukan untuk menjaga hati orang lain atau pun demi populariti dirinya sendiri sebagai seorang rasul, tetapi dilakukan semua itu kerana ingin menjaga maruah Islam yang mulia. Baginda bukan menjadi fitnah kepada agama apalagi hingga membawa kesesatan kepada orang yang menyukainya.

BEIJING: Dua pegawai kerajaan China dipenjarakan kerana melantik seorang kontraktor buta membina sebuah jambatan yang runtuh ketika sedang dibina, mencederakan 12 pekerja, lapor media tempatan.

Agensi berita Xinhua berkata lewat kelmarin, mahkamah di wilayah selatan di Jianxi ketika menjatuhkan hukuman penjara 18 bulan ke atas Huang Wenge, ketua kampung di pentadbiran Xiushui, dan juga ketua pemimpin parti Xia Jiazhong, penjara 12 bulan.

Agensi itu berkata, November lalu, kedua-duanya melantik seorang kontraktor bagi membina sebuah jambatan yang kemudian memberinya kepada kontraktor lain, Xia Huaqing yang buta.

Xinhua berkata, apabila Xia Huaqing mencadangkan reka bentuk jambatan, kedua-duanya bersetuju mengenai pertukaran itu tanpa memaklumkan kepada pegawai peringkat tinggi.
